POID Camp at Leprosy Relief Rural Centre, Chettipatty

On 27 February, 2018, Mr. Vivek Srivasta, Regional Representative of DAHW Asia & CEO of GLRA India and Dr. Vivek lal, Director health GLRA India participated immensely in the POID camp at LRRC, Chettipaty. The camp was conducted to provide self-care training to person affected by leprosy. Self-care kit and MCR footwear extended to leprosy patient. The goal of the program was to deliver the awareness and moral support for leprosy affected people.

About the hospital
GLRA is supporting LRRC Chettipatty since 1958, from a thatched leprosy clinic, today LRRC became one of the main leprosy hospitals in Tamil Nadu with all tertiary care facilities. The hospital provides leprosy diagnosis, treatment, physiotherapy, laboratory investigations, OP & IP care, Surgeries, eye care and rehabilitation measures for affected people under National Leprosy Programme.

Key Achievements

  • Over 60 years, LRRC diagnosed and treated about 21500 leprosy affected people and their subsequent lifelong care.
  • 502 Re-constructive surgeries were performed in LRRC from 1993 until 2017
  • LRRC also was enrolled in National TB control programme between 2000-2015, diagnosed about 9500 people and cured them from TB
  • LRRC support to 294 social rehabilitation interventions ranging from house construction, education, small scale business, skill training
